GARRETT GIBERSON

Garrett Giberson has lived in Asbury Park his entire life. His parents still live in Asbury Park in the house he grew up in on Fifth Avenue. Garrett’s family has been in Asbury Park Since the late 1920’s.

Garrett Giberson has been a civil servant for 30 years as both a volunteer and a professional with the City of Asbury and Borough of Tinton Falls. Garrett retired from the Asbury Park Fire Department as the Fire Marshal in 2020. Garrett continues to serve part-time with the Borough of Tinton Falls Fire Prevention/Code Departments. He continues to serve Asbury Park as the Office of Emergency Management Coordinator.

Garrett’s contributions to Asbury Park and the surrounding communities include:

  • Served on the Asbury Park Board of Education for 6 years.

  • Served on the Planning Board for the City of Asbury Park 2 years.

  • Served on the Sunset Lake Commission 2018

  • Currently the Vice Chairmen of the Asbury Park Housing Authority Commission.

  • A member of the Monmouth County Fire Prevention & Protection Association since 2004.

  • Member of the International Association of Arson Investigators.

  • Member of Asbury Park Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 384.

  • Member of the Asbury Park Saltwater Fishing Club since 1993.

  • Chaplain for Wanamassa and Deal Fire Departments since 2016.

  • Volunteer Firefighter Allenhurst Fire Department 1993-1999

  • Received Fire Inspector of the Year – Monmouth County Fire Prevention & Protection Association 2008.

  • Received Individual Meritorious Commendation, City of Asbury Park Fire Department, 2001.

  • Certificate of Appreciation and Dedication to the Asbury Park Board of Education. Presented by the Superintendent of Schools 2011.

  • Founder and President of the Asbury Park St. Patrick’s Day Parade a 501 C3 Non Profit 2013 – present.

  • Received the Joan Flatley Spirit of Asbury Park Award. Presented by the Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce in 2018.

  • Received Certificate of Recognition by the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders 2018.

  • Received a Joint Legislative Resolution from the Senate and General Assembly of NJ presented by Senator Gopal, Assemblyman Houghtaling and Assemblywoman Downey 2018.

  • Received a Senate Resolution presented by Senator Gopal 2023 during Irish Heritage Month.


Garrett has continued to support the City of Asbury Park even as the City has evolved throughout the years. Garrett is dedicated to Asbury Park and wants the very best for the City and its residents.
